Dayton International Airport
Dayton International Airport (DAY) is a wonderful alternative to
CVG
for flights to and from Cincinnati.
In fact, of all the airports within driving distance of Cincinnati, Dayton has to be my favorite. It's easy to get to, located just north of Cincinnati (9 miles north of downtown Dayton). Actually, it's only about five-ten minutes further to DAY from Cincinnati northern suburbs than it is to CVG Airport from those northern Cincinnati communities. Mapquest puts DAY at 55 minutes from Cincy's northern suburbs and 1 hour 20 minutes from CVG airport. The address for DAY is 3600 Terminal road, Vandalia, OH 45377. Charter vehicles, taxis, and rental cars are available for ground transportation to your location once you arrive at DAY. DAY is a smaller airport than CVG, although it is noted as the third largest airport in Ohio (after Cleveland and Columbus) but that's only because CVG is located in Kentucky. DAY was named after prominent Daytonian James M. Cox, Ohio's 46th and 48th governor. He also was the publisher of the Dayton Daily News, an organization that still honors his memory by referring to their editorial board meeting room as the "Governor's Library." Dayton is also home to the Wright Brothers, the inventors/pilots of the first airplane. DAY's proud motto is "home of aviation" in commemoration of the innovative Wright Brothers. Next time you're flying into or out of Cincinnati (or the surrounding area), be sure to check the flight rates and times from this nearby alternative!
